(2009-2010) Stoney Creek Wetland Design

EcoTec collaborated with Delcan Corporation to complete the environmental assessment and design of the Stoney Creek Erosion Control Wetland for the City of London. EcoTec first undertook an examination of the study area to identify existing natural conditions and complete an Environmental Impact Study for the development of the erosion control wetland on Stoney Creek. The 3.5 hectare erosion control wetland was then designed in order to provide a multi-purpose function of retaining stormwater and preventing downstream erosion, while also providing terrestrial and aquatic habitat diversity. The wetland design included the creation of habitat features such as marshes, turtle hibernacula, basking logs and sunning sites, and dead standing timber.
